Art is an imitation of the beauty of nature. To make an artwork means to imitate something beautiful. Whenever we paint landscapes, the result is an art. But now if I imitate other beautiful artworks in mine, I am considered to plagiarize. If I copied a popular anime character's hairstyle, I am considered to plagiarize. If I traced a movement from Michael Jackson photo, I am considered to plagiarize. It's funny I think, since there is no such thing as original art....Since art itself is an activity to imitate, anyway. If originality means creating a totally new artwork, then nobody will find it artistic since people do not share the relatively same concept of art in their mind with the artist. Nobody will appreciate it. Is it challenging enough for you?
Art, for me then, should be ones that can be shared an enjoyed to other people, be developed by those who want to, and reproduced freely for everyone. Because a real art enlightens the soul of those who get in contact with, the value of a real art is not measurable in currency. It's just unbuyable.
